Holly Schlaack offers a penetrating, insightful look into the troubled lives of little children in the foster care system. She reviews successes and failures, all from her own firsthand, on the ground experience as a long time social worker and guardian ad litem. Invisible Kids (www.InvisibleKidsTheBook.com) is a must read for any professional involved in the service of families and children, and Holly's wisdom and suggestions could supplement any training program. The private citizen jarred by media accounts of system failures can find Holly's "Dozen Ways to Make a Difference" practical and inspiring.

I saw your post on one of the blogs that I visit regularly. I have a couple of words of advice for you on your blogs. To increase your traffic, even with Alpha Inventions, you need to post regularly and visit Alpha Inventions and check out other blogs. That helps to increase your blog stats. Having said that, after reading your entries, I realize that you don't have much time for blogging what with taking care of your son.

I find your plight completely unbelievable. What Social Services did to your family is appalling, and the fact that you cannot raise a greater hue and cry about the situation is despicable. Good luck to you.

It's not hard. You link to other people's blogs, e.g. to posts relevant to what you're talking about. They see you've linked to them through trackbacks and find your blog. Don't link to random sites, link to relevant content.

Can't see anyone wanting to link to this pile of tripe though. Or read it. You're a fine one to judge other blogs when yours is full of utter shit.

Soc Services must investigate things. They are held accountable for their findings. So, to be on the safe side, them embellish records (at risk means almost anything) and children are whisked away. Courts go by the records sent them by Social Services.
Social Services gets more and more funding for each child they take and place. It's a business. It's called "Feed the Lion".
On the other hand, Soc Services does save many a child's life; it is the way they do it, however, and the ongoing taking of a child and then using that child as a "rabbit for experimentation" unto higher and higher levels of foster care and institutional places (for more gov't monies) all gauged by hiring certain pyschs who go by certain guidelines that pave the way. Even the local mental health (public) will not sign on to changing what the original pyschiatrist says, nor will they do the job.
A 14 year old who says no (what 14 year old does not) to some things in foster care or in treatment is labeled as incorrigigle and even made to sign contracts (under age but yet has to) to give up his legal allowance which is negligible. Visitation by parents is made unsurmountable unto permanency (child taken away completely).....this all done in 30 day; 3 mo; 6 mo; and 12 month intervals. Six months with no contact from or by a parent and the child belongs to Social Service. State forms have been altered in some cases and sent to the parents to sign. Policy never should replace legality of form or format, or the law in the best interest of a child. Best interest does not mean ownership by govt., altho it does come out this way.
A single mother who uses Soc Services help for taking care of her children while she undergoes surgery upon release finds that she cannot have her children unless first investigated and approved; and this is for anyone who uses their so called babysitting services. Prior to the mother having surgery, being there is no problems, where does the need to intervene come in. For it is at once your children become owned by DSS, it is hard to reclaim them no matter why you obtained DSS services.
It is a catch 22 system and has many flaws, none of which are friendly to families nor children.
Show me success stories of children in foster care (having been moved about and not treated with love and having lost any kind of bonding with humanity); and I will be astounded.
DSS sets the guidelines and does not want to hear of success stories and those foster parents who care will have them moved to another foster home.
How does a 2 year old (normal, but neglected) come to be a bad seed. And, whom are we really punishing and abusing?!!
The system has many flaws.

Hmm. this seems to confirm my suspicions that personality disorder is something invented by Stalin to 'imprison' anyone he didn't like by classifying them as mentally ill and in need of treatment in a secure 'psychiatric' hospital.

You seem to be saying that almost any kind of behaviour can be used to diagnose personality disorder.

Can you elucidate ?
